Red Wheelbarrow National (2008): "The Steamer"
In 2008, armed with my Masters degree, I submitted a piece called "The Steamer" to the National edition of Red Wheelbarrow.
"The Steamer" is a prequel to "The Monsoon." Where "Monsoon" culiminates in a confrontation between mother and son, "Steamer" begins with a young mother living in the turmoil of pre-Partition Pakistan.
